Northwest Folklife (NWFL) seeks a $50,000 grant to support the 53rd Annual Northwest Folklife Festival in 2024. In late 2023, NWFL will begin planning for the Festival with the help of 60 Community Coordinators, who ensure the Festival is genuinely by the people, for the people. On May 24th, the four-day Festival will begin at the Seattle Center, the region's cultural hub with acres of green space, presenting spaces, and waterworks, over Memorial Day weekend. Aligned with the objective of inclusivity, the festival will be free and open to all public members.

The Friends of 5th and Cloverdale (Fo5C) will lead a community design process for streetscape improvements at the intersection of 5th Ave S and S Cloverdale St. The goal is to create a safe and pleasant connection for pedestrians and bicyclists between 5th Ave S and nearby local businesses, as well as providing community amenities such as benches and landscaping. Fo5C will hire a landscape architecture consulting team and do extensive community and local business outreach, including a series of three public meetings. A schematic design plan and report will be prepared by the end of 2017.
