About This Grant

Provides career services and training services that cover a broad range of activities, including initial and comprehensive assessment of skills, providing information about careers and the local labor market, job search assistance, development of an individual employment plan, career counseling, English language acquisition and Integrated Education and Training, information and assistance in filing for unemployment compensation. Training services include occupational skills training, on-the-job training, incumbent worker training, transitional jobs, and adult education and literacy provided concurrently or in combination with other training services. Local areas may also provide support services and needs related payments to assist individuals participating in career and training services.

Eligibility

  • The Title I Dislocated Worker program is a subset of the Adult program. To receive services, individuals must be Adults and meet one of the 5 definitions of a Dislocated Worker. These include being laid off and unlikely to return to previous occupation, being laid off as part of a mass layoff or plant closure, self-employed but is now unemployed due to a change economic conditions or natural disaster, qualifying as a displaced homemaker, or being an eligible military spouse who has become unemployed due to a military related relocation. There are no other specific actions required.
