Assistant Volunteer Coordinator Internship
National Park Service
About This Grant
The C&O Canal (CHOH) will follow Action #2 from the Director s Call to Action to recruit diverse youth for volunteer opportunities. Under Action #2, Step by Step, CHOH will engage a youth intern, recruited by the Student Conservation Association (SCA), to expand youth community outreach. The intern will work with Canal Towns along the park to engage youth that have roots in the communities adjacent to the park. The intern will also connect with local Boys and Girls Clubs, college service groups, and community youth organizations like the Latin American Youth Center to recruit youth volunteers. In order to more effectively connect with youth, the intern will also focus on C2A Action #17, Go Digital. The intern will enhance the CHOH volunteer program s social media outreach in an effort to recruit volunteers from America s next generation.
