About This Grant

Rainier Roller Riot is an all-volunteer open-gender adult roller derby league in south Seattle serving majority LGBTQIA+ athletes. It will be hosted at Delridge Community Center, 4501 Delridge Way SW a 4-week bridge program for skaters who complete beginners camp but feel unready to skate at regular league practices. Second, a coach training program for advanced skaters to lead practices at the beginner or bridge camp. The coaches will run a “train the trainers” for skaters who are interested in coaching. The proposed project will increase retention of BIPOC and other skaters at multiple levels who do not see themselves represented in roller derby. The project is free and open to the public. The project will be completed in the Fall of 2026.
