FIUTS Community Clean-Up and Block Party
About This Grant
Starting in August, FIUTS will recruit both students and residents to participate in a clean-up project focused on the area between Roosevelt and 7th Avenue NE, from NE 42nd to NE 45th Street. This helps new and longtime neighbors work side-by-side to care for the shared neighborhood. Following the clean-up, the Block Party and BBQ will be held on September 19, 2025. It will be a kickoff to the academic year and a celebration of community. The Block Party will be on NE 43rd Street between Roosevelt and 9th Avenue NE, next to the FIUTS office in the Jack Straw Building. Now in its third year, the event brings together more than 400 students and community members for food, music, and connection. With many international students new to the area, the event fosters belonging, builds cross-cultural relationships, and strengthens ties between the University District’s diverse residents. The project will be completed by October 31, 2025.
