Brothers United In Leadership Development

BUILD 2022 is a series of community-building events to create leadership opportunities for Black men to positively impact, heal, unite, inspire, celebrate, engage & build their community. Events planned include BUILD Community Movie Nights, BUILD Holiday Bowl, BUILD Barbershop Series, and BUILD Community Kickball Event. The anticipated project completion is October 31, 2022.

Brothers United In Leadership Development

BUILD'N Community will celebrate and recognize Seattle's Black community with a series of family centered events. The first event a Father's Day Celebration, will be held on Sunday, June 23rd from 1-3 pm at the Royal Esquire Club, 5016 Rainier Avenue South. A Community Car Show and a Community Field Day are planned for later this summer. Each event will include great food, music and activities for all ages. Activities are free and open to the public.

Friends of Magnuson Park

The Building 41 Teen Mural Project will tell the history of aviation at the Magnuson park through the installation of colorful murals over 17 windows of a highly visible, unused building within the Sand Point Naval Air Station Historic District. The project will take place over several weeks in the summer of 2021, with anticipated completion date of October 29, 2021.

Haller Lake Emergency Hub

The Haller Lake Emergency Hub is building community around the issue of preparedness. Our team is following the model of the Seattle Emergency Hubs. This project will entail the following action items, events, and opportunities: 1. Purchase the gear most useful to respond to a disaster in the Haller Lake neighborhood and store it at the Haller Lake Community Club. 2. Host a "Hands-on Skills Fair" to educate our neighbors about the steps to take to prepare their households for a major disaster. 3. Host a "Grand Opening" event to demonstrate to the community how the Hub “system” works and why it is important. 4. Offer opportunities for our neighbors to volunteer their time and get involved in Hub activities. 5. Continue to build our team of volunteers and engage ALL our neighbors to help them be better prepared in the event of a disaster. This project will be completed by October 31, 2025.

Somali Independent Business Alliance

Building Blocks to Success is a capacity-building project to empower 50 BIPOC businesses in Seattle by enhancing knowledge, skills, and tools through tailored technical assistance, marketing support, and comprehensive services.

Windz of Change Alliance

In partnership with UW Botanical Gardens, PlantAmnesty, and Tribal community eco-cultural environment leaders, we are requesting assistance for Indigenous programming/presenters, protocol/honoring supplies/art, raffle, traditional foods, promotional and student/community invitations. Creating and implementing a 99% Indigenous-voiced UW Urban Forestry Symposium on 11/2/2023 at the UW Intellectual Longhouse is the goal. Building environmental awareness, understanding, and respect of First People's knowledge, protocols, cultural heritage, socio-ecological stewardship and ethics, and urban-focused policies for collective climate change, forestry and waters restoration, rejuvenation, and renewal affecting human impact, health, food sovereignty, and cultural applications (cedar carvings/uses) are scope areas. Purposeful vision is to Bridge, Build, Benefit, Beautify through relationships, teachings, cultural activities, engagement, and experiences of Indigenous ways for collective solutions.

Crown Hill Emergency Hub

The Crown Hill Emergency Hub will be hosting a HUB 101 event on July 20, 2025, from 1pm to 3:30pm, located at 9089 Holman Rd NW. The goal of the event is to engage neighbors on the subject of community preparedness. The community participants will gain an understanding of how a emergency Hub works, and why it is necessary, There will also be a Hub Drill where participants will be acquainted with Hub Box contents. In addition there will be an exercise of a post disaster scenario. The event is free and open to the public.

Olympic Hills Hub

The Olympic Hill Emergency Hub will be hosting a series of Hub Info sessions on August 7th, 28th, and on September 25th at the Lake City Farmers Market, and an Urban Survival Skills Fair located at 1534 NE 145th, which is in the SE corner of the parking lot at NE 145th St and 15th Ave NE in January. The goal of the event is to engage neighbors on the subject of community preparedness. The community participants will gain an understanding of how an emergency Hub works, and why it is necessary, There will also be a Hub Drill where participants will be acquainted with Hub Box contents. In addition, there will be an exercise of a post disaster scenario. The event is free and open to the public.

Ballard Emergency Communication Hubs

Ballard Hub Captains and their teams are eager to reengage their neighbors around the subject of household and community preparedness. To accomplish this, multiple events will be hosted throughout Ballard educating neighbors about preparing for a disaster.

Friends of Hiawatha

The Friends of Hiawatha will engage in street activation thru art at 843 Hiawatha Pl S that will include the side streets of S. Charles and Dearborn Ave corners. The activation includes tree lighting for beautification, and culminating with a winter celebration on February 7, 2025 on First Friday Artwalk. The event is free and open to the public.

The Eli's Park Project

Initiated and designed by the community it will serve, the Eli's Park Project at the Burke Gilman Playground Park, located at 5201 Sand Point Way NE, will renovate an underutilized green space into a park that is fully accessible to people of all ages, abilities and identities. This phase of funding will complete the art elements partially funded in the previous cycle and includes the fabrication and installation of 5 permanent art features. All contractors qualified through community hiring panels and public art calls. This project will be completed by December 30, 2022.

The Eli's Park Project

Led by Site Workshop and our design team, The Eli's Park Project will continue our partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation in design development for the Burke-Gilman Playground Park located at 5201 Sandpoint Way NE. This phase will result in design documents including civil engineering reports and integrated art elements. This phase is estimated to be completed by February 2020.

The Eli's Park Project

Led by our community, the Eli's Park Project will continue in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation in design development for the Burke-Gilman Playground Park. This phase over the next ten months will include a call for artist, design and fabrication of custom bike stations, sculptural elements and educational panels.

Think Big, Wedgwood

The Think Big, Wedgewood community group, purpose for the project is to create a sense of unity in their neighborhood through art that communicates that Wedgwood welcomes all. Think Big Wedgewood will have a public design process and fabricate and hang light pole banners that will be non-commercial in nature & beautify the neighborhood. There will be roughly 25 banners along the 35th Ave business district between 75th & 95th in Wedgwood. The banners will be installed by SuperGraphics with the guidance of the Seattle Dept of Transportation Directors Pole Banner Permitting Guidelines, or the appropriate recommended contractor.

Seattle Griot Project

The Kwanzaa festival, held from December 29th to 31st at 2656 42nd Ave SW, Seattle, welcomes all with daily hours from 10 am to 7 pm. This free, 3-day public event prioritizes unity, self-determination, and cooperative economics within the Black community. Activities encompass small business showcases, enlightening financial literacy workshops, valuable tech training, cultural performances, and interviews for marketing. The event aims to empower, encourage entrepreneurship, bridge education gaps, and promote collaboration.

Cal Anderson Park Emergency Communications Hub

The Cal Anderson Park Emergency Communication Hub will be hosting two community events, the first on August 12th the "Hub Grand Opening" and the second will take place September 7th "The Urban Survival Skills Fair". Both events will take place at Cal Anderson Park at the Sun Bowl/Patio located at 1635 11th Ave W. The purpose of both events is to empower the Capitol Hill neighborhood with the knowledge and skills in preparedness and disaster training. Relationships and partnerships will be made and community is encourage to participate in the variety of skills trainings at the fair. The event is free and open to the public.

Camp Long Mountain Fest Steering Committee

Community members will organize Mountain Fest 2016 at Camp Long located at 5200 35th Ave SW on September 10. Event attendees will enjoy a day of free access to activities including rock climbing and other opportunities for environmental learning.

Friends of Campamento Musicale de Verano 2024

This project will provide a summer youth music program at James Baldwin Elementary School from Monday, August 12-Friday, August 16, 9am-1pm, each day, without charge, to approximately 40 BIPOC and Latinx youth, ages 6-16 years. Experienced professional teaching artists will provide individual and ensemble instruction in Spanish and English. Participants will be assigned to beginning, intermediate, and advanced groups according to their musical knowledge and experience. In addition to individual and ensemble instruction in playing an orchestral instrument (violin, viola, cello, flute, and brass), program activities will include sharing multi-cultural experiences and education, including diverse songs and dances, led by BIPOC guest artists. Youth participants will present a final performance for family and friends at the end of the week.

Friends of Jane Addams Middle School

The Friends of Jane Adams Middle School is working with design firm Johnson+Southerland, and surrounding community to create Schematic Design and Construction documents for the 1-mile campus running loop located at 11051 34th Ave NE on the Jane Adams Middle School Campus.

Heal The Hood Committee

Marvin Thomas Memorial will host a Unity in the Community Block Party with emphasis on Cancer Awareness information at Jefferson Community Center on Saturday, October 7th, from 1am to 4pm. We will enjoy music, special guest speakers, vendor booths, raffle and prizes. A few Cancer survivors in the community will be recognized. We will also have Covid supplies available such as masks and hand sanitizer. All Supplies are free and everyone is welcome to attend. Hot food and drinks will be given out free of charge. DJ Doxx, Raffles and photobooth are some of the events taking place. A photographer and videographer will be on site to document this much needed community event.

Central Area Neighborhoods District Council

Central Area Neighborhoods District Council hosting candidate forum for all candidates running for the City Council seat in District 3. June 6th, 6PM - 9:30PM, Grace United Methodist Church. Food and drinks provided for attendees. If we can find licensed/bonded childcare we will provide that free of charge for parents
