Freeway Park Association

Freeway Park Association seeks funding to support three complementary projects happening in Freeway Park Dec 24-June 25. We will illuminate pathways with heritage tree lighting; illuminate art and create connections with a community festival; and illuminate history with shared stories and educational signage. The projects include 1. Foundational winter lighting for public delight and much needed safety, and to create a backdrop for our March art activation; 2. An illuminated art event in March entitled `Meeting at the Balance` supporting 6-9 artists/artist teams' art installations, performances, and art making workshops; 3. Creating public education materials about the social and political history of the park and the details of the Park's renovation which is slated for May 25. Meeting at the Balance will energize and illuminate the park, empower and fund local artists and also educate the community about the future and past of Freeway Park at this moment of expansion and change.

Meridian Neighbors

As a traffic calming measure, the Meridian Neighbors will organize volunteers, buy supplies, and paint a curb bulb installed by the Seattle Department of Transportation at Meridian Avenue North and North 45th Street. This project will be completed by September 30, 2019.

Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention

Grants to support the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and related programs for locating and recovering missing children.

Molina Healthcare

Supports health access and community health programs for low-income and underserved populations in Molina service areas.

Morgan Junction All Wheels Association

The Morgan Junction community has expressed overwhelming public support for adding an All-Wheels Recreation Area to the Morgan Junction Park. This project is a feasibility study of the addition of an All - Wheels Recreation Area to the park. The study will recommend specific direction in the design and integration of a free, public all-wheels terrain at the Morgan Junction Park.

Morgan Community Association

The 19th Annual Morgan Junction Community Festival will be held June 14, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Morgan Junction Park located at 6413 California Ave SW. This grant will provide funding for the entertainment at this annual festival, including a student band from West Seattle High School "The Potholes” and a local senior citizen "Bubbleman". The festival fosters community by welcoming new residents and reconnecting with neighbors through a one day fun event focused on children and young families. The festival also raises awareness of local non-profits, fosters emergency preparedness, highlights near term City of Seattle and King County upcoming elections, provides community feedback on critical issues such as Morgan Junction Park Annex design and the One Seattle Plan for Morgan Junction Urban Center. This project will be completed by July 31, 2025.

Friends of Safe Access: Street to Park

Friends of Safe Access: Street to Park are applying for funding to construct Phase I of the community-supported design which will include new stairs, guardrails, and a lower integrated path into Mount Baker Park.

Muddy Lotus Festival

The Muddy Lotus Art planning committee will organize a free community art celebration featuring performances, demonstrations, and instruction in various artistic genres including painting, clay arts, and creative movement. It will be held on July 7, 2018 from 1 pm - 6 pm at Pritchard Island Beach located at 8400 55th Ave S.

Institute of Museum and Library Services

Grants to museums of all types to strengthen their ability to serve the public through exhibitions, education, collections stewardship, and community engagement.

Friends of Music of the Americas

The project will offer a series of four free and inclusive arts and culture events in March, May, September, and December 2024 at accessible and welcoming Seattle venues, including Town Hall. The events will feature special guest artists and composers of South and Central America and will celebrate their diverse cultures with classical and traditional orchestra, voice/choral, and dance performances as well as poetry readings and original art.

Na'ah Illahee Fund

Na'ah Illahee Fund will conduct sediment and soil testing on the 20-acre parcel of land at the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center and will remove invasive plants and plant species that will enhance the teaching space for Native youth and the community. This project will be completed by 12/31/18.

The National Coastal Wetlands Conservation Grant Program annually provides grants of up to $1 million to coastal and Grant Lakes states, as well as U.S. Territories to protect, restore and enhance coastal wetland ecosystems and associated uplands. The grants are funded through the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund, which is supported by excise taxes on fishing equipment an motorboat fuel.

Grants for information, assistance, counseling, respite, and supplemental services to family caregivers of older adults and grandparents raising grandchildren.

Greenwood-Phinney Greenways

The Greenwood-Phinney Greenways will work with neighbors to calm traffic on five streets: N 95th, N 101st, N 102nd, N 103rd, and N 104th by planning, designing and installing custom-made barrel planters starting Spring 2021. The project is expected to be completed by August and end with a virtual community celebration.

National Endowment for the Arts

Project-based grants supporting public engagement with, and access to, the arts including visual arts, music, dance, theater, literature, design, and media arts.

Grants for creative placemaking projects that integrate arts and culture into community revitalization, improving livability, economic development, and social outcomes.

National Endowment for the Humanities

Grants for humanities projects including digital humanities, preservation and access, public programs, education, research, and challenge grants for institutions.

Call of Compassion NW

Call of Compassion NW will teach up to 20 youth-led teams of five people how to create temporary art pieces using chalk. The workshop will be on Saturday, August 26, 9am-12pm, at Blaine Memorial United Methodist Church in the parking lot (3001 24th Ave S). The day of art creation will happen on neighborhood business district sidewalks by September 15. A community celebration for the teams will be held in October.

Beacon Hill International School Playground Steering Committee

Beacon Hill International School, (BHIS), is a diverse community of learners and educators embedded in the culturally-rich neighborhood of North Beacon Hill. We seek funding for a community-led project to replace the outdated and unsafe playground structure that was recently removed from the school play area.

New Holly Youth & Family P-Patch

A P-Patch fence around the 390' exterior perimeter is needed for the safety and security of community participants. Problems we want to address include: physical threats to gardeners (many of whom are older and immigrants), theft of garden tools, damage to the storage shed, and transients staying overnight in the storage shed. A problem unique to our large immigrant gardening population is that stolen produce significantly compounds common food insecurity. This is because these gardeners grow produce with which they are familiar and use a lot, but which is hard to find in local grocery stores.

27th and Cambridge Coalition

The 27th and Cambridge Coalition will organize a fun, free, community building event for National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug 6 from 5:00-8:00 pm in the Courtyard of Longfellow Apartments, 9413 - 27th Avenue Southwest. There will be food, games and art activities for all ages, face painting, and live music.

88th St NE Neighbors

This will be a Night Out block party for NE 88th St. between Roosevelt Way NE & 15th Ave NE. It's a bratwurst BBQ and potluck for approximately 100 attendees on August 7, 2018 from 6:00 - 10:00 PM. Six new homes have been built on the block, where one house previously stood, and three other homes have sold; so we have many new families to meet and welcome onto the block.

49th Ave SW Neighborhood Group

The 49th Avenue Southwest Neighborhood Group will participate in the National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 6. The event activities will take place at 4047 49th Avenue SW between 6:00 and 9:00 pm. During the community barbeque packets containing information on crime prevention and emergency preparedness will be distributed. Activities include games, a balloon artist and face painting. A block watch list will also be created.
