Barbara Hainley led efforts to transform the derelict property into an award-winning park. The playground, large yard, beautiful quadrant flower gardens and adjoining P-Patch are now a favorite destination for the Whittier Heights neighborhood. We will honor Ms. Hainley via a plaque near a tree which was planted in her memory, install a new picnic table, and present a bouquet to our steadfast Seattle Parks caretaker. Games, face painting, music, hot dogs and ice cream are planned.

The goal is to help heal the wounds of traumatized citizens, and remind visitors about the perils of gun violence. The triangle will have signage and talks to educate people about the unfortunate past event and to help create awareness and a safer community. This phase of the project will be completed by June 30, 2020.
