East African Arts & Cultural Association

The East African Arts & Cultural Association will celebrate Seattle Ethiopians' Week with a 5 day public celebration to be held July 2-6, 2017. It will take place at King's Hall located at 2929 27th Ave S. The celebration will convene the Ethiopian community to express their heritage, engage Ethiopian youth in relevant community issues, showcase Ethiopian performing and visual arts, and strengthen mutual understanding and respect between a wide variety of cultures.

CID Parks Partnership

The CID Parks Partnership will conduct post-occupancy evaluations (POEs) this summer and early fall for the Donnie Chin International Children's Park and Hing Hay Park. Our goal is to examine how these two recently completed community park efforts are performing and serving the local community. The purpose of a POE is to learn about the users of the parks and to investigate how the design of the parks served their needs. The evidence-based findings (based on interviews, focus groups, & behavior mapping) are expected to support future design of public parks in the District and beyond. Our expected outcome is building capacity within the community, better understanding of how to program parks for community, suggestions for future improvements, and a report that can be shared with the community, other neighborhoods, and Seattle Parks & Recreation. This project will be completed by January 31, 2019.

Freeway Park Association

The Freeway Park Association will organize a community lantern installation and Fall Festival event on Friday, October 26, 4-7pm, at Freeway Park, 700 Seneca St. Communities neighboring the park will be invited to help make lanterns and participate in the festival. The lanterns will hang throughout the fall and winter as a way to bring light, movement, color and community art into the park, making people feel safe and invested in Freeway Park.

USDA Agricultural Marketing Service

Grants for direct-to-consumer marketing activities including farmers markets, roadside stands, CSA programs, and agritourism.

Fauntleroy Centennial Committee

The Fauntleroy Centennial Committee will be hosting a community event `A Century of Serving the Community` at the historic Fauntleroy Schoolhouse. The one day event will be free and open to the public it will include various activities for the community to participate. Archives will be displayed, a new flagpole will be erected, along with a mini carnival.

Organizacion Centro Americano

Organization CentroAmericano will organize a festival to celebrate the various cultures of Central America. The festival will include a day of cultural performances, cultural expression and cultural exchange. It will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2023 at South Park community center.

Sundiata African American Cultural Association

Festival Sundiata Black Arts Fest, an annual celebration of people of African descent is scheduled for Friday June 14 through Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Seattle Center, 305 Harrison Street. The event includes, music, dance, historical exhibits and arts and crafts.

The festival:festival organization will host a free two day arts festival to support artists and cultural workers. It will take place on August 2, 2019 from 5 pm - 10 pm at Northwest Film Forum located at 1515 12th Ave, on August 3, 2019 from 11 am - 4 pm at Amplifier located at 901 Hiawatha Pl S, and on E Denny Wy between 10th Ave and Broadway Ave from 5 pm - 10 pm on August 2 and 3, 2019.

Sea-Mar Community Health Center

Fiestas Patrias is a two-day, free admission cultural festival which provides opportunities for the Puget Sound community to come together to celebrate Latin American arts, culture, and heritage through music, dance, food and more. Fiestas Patrias will take place in South Park located at 8319 8th Avenue South on September 14th and 15th from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. beginning with a parade. There will also be a community fiesta and health fair located at the Seattle Center at 305 Harrison Street on September 14th and 15th from noon - 9:00 p.m. This project will be completed by November 29, 2019.

Friends of Alki Beach

Friends of Alki Beach is seeking funding for Phase One of the Alki Avenue Revitalization Project, focused on improving pedestrian safety and supporting small business recovery along the critical "Restaurant Row" corridor on Alki Avenue between 55th to 62nd Streets. This area supports some of Seattle’s highest traffic in the summer. But in the winter with dark neglected park areas and no summer tourists, area restaurants suffer extremely low traffic. As the City repairs long-neglected light posts in this busy but struggling district, this project proposes adding custom-designed flags to enhance visibility, signal positive change, and break the cycle of neglect—addressing the "broken-window syndrome”. These colorful, well-placed flags serve as affordable, high-impact wayfinding tools that make the corridor more inviting, walkable, and vibrant. The project directly aligns with city goals to foster safe, pedestrian-friendly streets and sustain local small businesses.

Grants to reduce or eliminate risk of repetitive flood damage to NFIP-insured buildings through property acquisition, elevation, and mitigation reconstruction.

AmeriCorps

Grants for income-eligible adults aged 55+ to provide one-on-one mentoring, tutoring, and emotional support to children and youth with exceptional needs.

GROW

The Fremont P-Patch Community Garden, which is located at 3935 Woodland Park Ave N will remove two hazardous Trees. According to the arborist risk assessment, the trees are a high risk safety hazard for gardeners, public visitors, passersby, and neighboring residences. They are also invasive and noxious. This project will make the garden safer and prevent further spread of this species. This project will also make a significant portion of the garden more productive and increase gardener retention by reducing the amount of shade impacting the plots under the trees. The removal of the trees will help increase public usage of the garden by making the garden more visible from the street. The project is free and open to the public. This project will be complete in February 2022.

Southeast Seattle Senior Center

The SouthEast Seattle Senior Center located at 4655 S Holly Street will replace their front doors to ensure the senior center will be secure and have doors that are more easily accessible to the seniors who visit the center. This project will be completed by May 31, 2022.

Georgetown Merchants Association

The Georgetown Carnival is a free, one-day, arts & music-focused street fair centered in Georgetown’s historic business district. The 2025 Carnival will take place on June 14, 12-10 pm, on Airport Way S between 12th Ave S & Corson Ave. The Carnival is a celebration of the neighborhood and its unique place as an artistic and small business haven surrounded by large-scale industry. It brings visibility to the neighborhood artists and businesses, and gives our small residential community a day of fun focused on our special neighborhood. With a residential population of only 1700, Georgetown’s small businesses rely on customers from other parts of Seattle to remain viable. Events like Carnival are vital in increasing the visibility of our local artists and businesses, and create a lasting economic impact by introducing new people to the neighborhood and encouraging them to return. In 2023, we welcomed over 5,000 people to the Carnival, many of whom were first time visitors to Georgetown.

Georgetown Merchants Association

Our project is the revival of the annual Georgetown Carnival. Carnival has been a tradition going on 14 years, with 2023 being it's official return post-COVID. Carnival is a one day music and arts festival, taking place from 12pm - 10 pm along Airport Way S, and 12th Ave S in the Georgetown Neighborhood. Featuring live performances on three stages, booths for local vendors and artists, industrial art displays, and children's activities. The purpose of Carnival is to increase visibility of businesses in Georgetown. The businesses in Georgetown cannot be sustained by our small residential population alone.

Georgetown Steam Plant CDA

The Georgetown Steam Plant Science Fair is a two-day, community-driven celebration of SHTEAM – science, history, technology, engineering, art, and math. Curated to spark curiosity, connection, and critical thinking for all ages, this event empowers participants by moving them from the role of “observer” into “active contributor” to community development. Hosted at the historic Georgetown Steamplant, the fair blends hands-on experiments, scientific demos, community dialogue, data visualizations, interactive exhibits, art installations, and more to inspire makers, thinkers, and problem solvers. With the theme “Break the System,” this year’s fair challenges participants to reimagine outdated systems and structures – industrial, social, or ecological – and explore bold and regenerative solutions for the future. Along with exhibits, there will be food trucks, performances, and more! The event is free, family-friendly, and rooted in the values of community and collaboration.

Georgetown Super 8 Film Festival

The Georgetown Super 8 Film Festival group will host the Georgetown Super 8 Film Festival at the OxBow gallery located at 6118 12th Ave S. The festival kicks off on May 11th and have a 2 week showing. The event will be free and open to the public.

Growing Vine Street

Growing Vine Street 2020 brings new life to the award-winning 1990’s green-street project of the same name. This project will increase organizational capacity and engage the community in a dialogue about green space needs, neighborhood history and sustainable utilization of storm water through two community events.

Somali Community Services of Seattle

If, as research suggests, youth gun violence (such as that in Rainier Beach) is at least partly due to despair and pain, then why not address the causes? Our Somali youth experience great despair - akin to the typical young aduurance, living alone) to which are added an empty cupboard, eviction, unemployment, lack of a high school diploma, etc. Just as explorers of outer space have intensive training, ongoing communication and detailed user manuals outlining their options, resources, and support available in unfamiliar situations, so should our youth have access to training and other aids to navigate their strange new world. Operation GRIT offers 30 youth (14 to 24 years old) intensive training (60 hours) on essential self-care practices needed for overall well-being, and a violence-free life; related discussion groups (60 hours); a 60-hour media and podcasting workshop; and 3 1-hour podcasts so GRIT grads can share their wellness wisdom with their peers.

Rainier Beach Community Club

This project repairs the gutter and siding on the southwest corner of the VFW building located at 6038 S Pilgrim St Seattle Wa 98118. The anticipated project end date is July 30, 2021.
