Dr. Jose Rizal Park & Bridge Foundation

A community event to share the Philippines Holiday Tradition. The event will showcase local talents, variety of holiday treats and the famous Philippines holiday lanterns called Parol. The event will be held at Washington Hall located at 153 14th Ave Seattle WA on December 4th from 11am to 5pm.

OCA Asian Pacific Advocates of Greater Seattle

This project will convert the 2019 `Gum Saan to Golden Spike` (GS2) film to a comic novella like ?In a Yellow Tone? (IYT), a sequel to GS2. The project will also add an IYT sequel, `King-DOOM: How AAPI Protestors saved Chinatown,` focusing on the AAPI protest 50 years ago against the Kingdome encroachment, leading to the creation of many Chinatown ID (CID) agencies. To combat ignorance, foster pride and fight hate, completing this trilogy explains/affirms the continuing story of AAPI in Seattle. The anticipated project completion date is December 31, 2022.

Seattle Children's PlayGarden

This project will renovate the playground at Seattle Children's PlayGarden located at 1745 24th Ave. S. The PlayGarden is a public-private partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, created to offer children of all abilities a safe, and fun place to play. The renovation and landscaping will make the playground more accessible for all visitors.

Green Lake Advisory Council

The Green Lake Advisory Council is hosting its 47th annual Pathway of Lights at Green Lake located at 7201 East Green Lake Dr N Seattle WA on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 4:30-7:30 pm. This free special event marks the start of the winter season and has become a lauded community tradition. At sunset, Green Lake is transformed with 2.8 miles of luminaries into a radiant, sparkling oasis. On any given year, up to 20,000 visitors descend on Green Lake for this festive and much beloved celebration. The Green Lake Advisory Council will enhance this year's event with a hot air balloon "night glow" on the playfields at Green Lake Community.

Green Lake Advisory Council

The Green Lake Advisory Council will enhance the Pathway of Lights event with a hot air balloon (night glow) show on the playfields at Green Lake. Hot air balloons will be set up at dusk and inflated as if they are going to take off, but instead of being allowed to ascend they will be tethered to the ground. The balloons will glow like huge light bulbs or lanterns, giving a spectacular display for Pathway of Lights visitors. The event is on December 9th from 4:30pm to 9:30pm at the Greenlake Community Center, 7201 East Greenlake Drive North.

The propane burners are ignited periodically to keep the balloons inflated with hot air, and that's when they light up for the glow.

Making Broadview Better, Together

Making Broadview Better, Together will hire a landscape architecture firm to develop a pathway design for the unimproved right-of-way adjacent to the roadway on N/NW 132nd Street between Greenwood Ave N and 3rd Ave NW. The goal is to calm traffic and increase pedestrian safety by providing a protected walkway. The design process will include extensive community outreach including a series of public meetings, ending in the fall of 2018.

Pelican Tea Garden Collective P-Patch

The Pelican Tea Garden Collective P-Patch will engage gardeners and community members to plan, and organize the purchase, assembly, and placement of a outdoor storage container,plants, compost bin,community table and seating area at the Pelican Tea P-Patch garden located on 1909 E Roy St. during Winter 2019 and Spring 2020.

Pen to Pad Planning Committee

The Pen to Pad Planning Committee will host a public event that promotes literacy and shares the experiences of local authors of color. The event will be held on November 2, 2017 from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm at the Northwest African American Museum located at 2300 S. Massachusetts St. There will be music, food, and a facilitated creative writing activity.

Friends of Woodland Park Avenue

Phase 1 of Woodland Park Ave N Traffic Calming Project will seek a solution for the increasing speeding problem on the stretch of Woodland Park Ave N between 42nd and 43rd streets. The anticipated project close out date is February 28, 2023.

Interbay P-Patch Community Garden

This is Phase 2 of the Universal Accessibility Inclusive Garden beds - phase 1 was to build the foundation and lay the gravel. Phase 2 is to purchase the troughs to be used as raised beds and fill them with the soil that was removed from the plots. Additionally, an edge will be done around the plot.

Dr. Jose Rizal Park Restoration Project

Philippines Lantern Holiday Festival will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Dr. Jose Rizal Park, located at 1007 12th Ave S Seattle WA 98144. The event will promote and preserve the Philippine holiday tradition by showcasing and sharing traditional lanterns, treats, arts, and culture.

Friends of Phinney Ave N Street Painting

This project is to create intersection paintings and street art along our block on Phinney Ave N from 90th to 92nd street. This will provide an opportunity for the community to come together to give design input, paint, and play along the street, and increase visual appeal and interest for the many neighbors who walk along our street. We also hope this will create a safe playing environment for the children along the street and in the neighborhood by increasing neighbor and vehicle awareness through visual interest. We plan to include a mural in each intersection and a larger image mid-block, with stencils for small images that people can add to the design in their preferred locations and colors. This provides an additional opportunity for community engagement and support, allowing access to creating the art regardless of age and painting experience. A local parent and teacher will create our design, and the neighborhood will come together to prepare, paint, and enjoy the art.

Phinney Neighborhood Association

This project will create an inclusive, quirky, secular, business-district-focused lighting tradition that represents the Phinney-Greenwood Community. The project will create a lighted animals that artistically and emotionally resemble the Holiday Monkeys, which were retired in 2020 as a part of our organization's commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The anticipated project completion date is April 29, 2022.

One Reel

Pianos in the Parks enables neighborhoods to showcase local artists and bring communities together for free outdoor musical performances. Participating neighborhoods will have the opportunity to present talented artists and musicians in their area and each will have one paid position for an artist to be assigned a piano in their park. This project will be completed by January 31, 2020.

Friends of Picardo Farms P-patch

The Friends of Picardo Farm P-Patch will revitalize the abandoned Master Gardeners' demonstration garden at Picardo Farm P-Patch to provide a safe, contemplative space as an asset to the neighborhood. They will replant it with an edible landscape, add a patio and picnic table, and build a bin to hold wood chips that are essential to keeping the paths of the P-Patch safe and mud-free. Improvements will be completed by June 2018, followed by a community celebration.

Friends of Picardo Farms P-patch

This volunteer-led project will revitalize and improve pollinator habitat at the Picardo P-Patch community garden. By clearing invasives and planting primarily native species, this will support native pollinators, birds, insects, and other wildlife. Picardo will also offer education for gardeners and visiting community members, building awareness about pollinators and their importance in food production and healthy biodiversity. Volunteers will restore an underused section of the P-Patch to: - provide habitat for native pollinators, insects, birds, and other wildlife. - support and enhance biodiversity. - improve Picardo P-Patch resilience to climate change impacts. - reduce invasives plants and their spread. - increase beneficial pollination and pest insect control. Farmers.gov notes pollinators' value for people: - Over 80% of the world's flowering plants need a pollinator to reproduce. - 1 out of 3 bites of our food is created with help from pollinators.

Kids and Paper

Kids & Paper will introduce Pickleball, Washington's Official State Sport, to low-income, BIPOC kids aged 5 to 12 in Seattle. Playing both indoors and outdoors year-round, we will work with community partners to reduce health disparities and strengthen our participants' academic and social/emotional skills.

Friends of Eckstein MS Pickleball

Friends of Eckstein MS Pickleball will convert a damaged tennis court on the site of Eckstein Middle School into 4 permanent pickleball courts for joint use by the public and Eckstein students. A consultant firm will be hired to lead the public engagement process and to develop a schematic design complete with construction costs. Between now and the end of May three public meetings will be held to solicit community input.

Seattle Metro Pickleball Association

The nonprofit Seattle Metro Pickleball Association (SMPA) is requesting Seattle Parks and Recreation's assistance to purchase and install mobile pickleball nets for free use at the Delridge CC shared-use pickleball/tennis courts. The 2017 Pickleball Conversion Pilot Program was well received by Seattle pickleball enthusiasts and we are proposing the next step forward to encourage more public play. Once the nets are located at the courts, the SMPA and its leadership committee will work on community outreach to let the public know about this new accessible opportunity to play pickleball. SMPA will also organize a pickleball event at Delridge this summer or early fall.

Seattle Metro Pickleball Association

Seattle Metro Pickleball Association (SMPA) will purchase and install mobile pickleball nets for free use at the Green Lake (7201 E Green Lake Dr N) and Miller (300 19th Ave E) shared-use pickleball/tennis courts. SMPA will work on community outreach to let the public know about this new accessible opportunity to play pickleball. SMPA will also organize pickleball events free and open to all at both parks later this summer or early fall.

Pigeon Point Neighborhood Council

The Pigeon Point Community Council will have a community gathering/organizing event on August 22nd at Pathfinder K8 playfield located at 1901 SW Genessee St. The event will include multi-age activities, music, food and information tables about Block watches, Emergency Preparedness. The event is free and open to the public.

Central Seattle Greenways

Interim protected bike lanes are planned to be installed in the Pike/Pine corridor by the end of 2019, with permanent lanes to follow. We are inviting the community to create a vision of a street that works for all of us - a preferred design for the interim and a preferred design for the long term. The workshop will be Thursday, October 25 5:30 - 9:00 p.m. at The Summit on Pike, 420 E Pike Street, Seattle, WA 98122. This project will be completed by January 30, 2019.

Neighbors of Pine Street Ravine

Friends of the Madrona Ravine to develop a full scale restoration plan for the ravine. The Madrona Ravine runs along Madrona Drive and 40th Ave, originating at the terminus of 39th Avenue and ending at Lake Washington Blvd. The process of restoring the ravine in partnership with the neighborhood will create a cadre of long-term stewards to continue caring for the ravine. The restoration plan is to be completed by August of 2019
