Highland Park Elementary PTA

The Highland Park Elementary PTA will update their 2016 Playground Master Plan for Highland Park Elementary located at 1012 SW Trenton St. to reflect current community needs, and develop construction documents. This project is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2021.

Saturday Studio

A community led team of artists and architects will design and build a parklet for the Hillman City Collaboratory. The parklet will be a community space that tells and helps form the ongoing story of Hillman City.

Hillman City Neighborhood Association

The Hillman City Neighborhood Association, an outgrowth of Vision Hillman City, will host its first meeting on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, 7-9pm, at the Rainier Avenue Church (5900 Rainier Ave. S.). The Association will publicize the meeting through a neighborhood-wide mailing, posters, flyers, and other existing community meetings and events. They will also do personal outreach to businesses and community group leaders, including developing relationships with leaders from the neighborhood's immigrant communities. The goal is to find pathways to effective communication with all segments of the neighborhood.

Hillman City P-Patch

The Hillman City P-Patch garden community plans to reclaim the accessible gravel paths and develop an accessible gardening area at the site. The project also includes an update to their 2010 visioning plan and the initiation of a monthly serieis of events designed to engage the gardeners, neighbors and partner organizations.

Multimedia Resources and Training Institute (MMRTI)

Multimedia Resources Training Institute will create a 1 hour documentary, 30 photo portraits, and other multimedia projects produced by youth interns.  They will focus on Seattle's Central Area, a Historic Arts and Cultural District. The project will empower youth to act as community advocates through photography and video.

HistoryLink

Fifteen years ago, HistoryLink produced self-guided tours of historical Seattle neighborhoods. HistoryLink will now update the tours. These tours will reside on HistoryLink.org and will be available to other websites at no cost. The walking tours in the Central District, Belltown, and Pike Place Market will begin and end near transit stations linking the tours by public transit. This project will be completed by August 31, 2020.

Haller Lake Community Club

The exterior siding of the Haller Lake Community Club located at 12579 Densmore Ave N needs to be replaced as it has been badly damaged by flickers' nests for several years. We will re-side the building with hardy board siding that will be impervious to further destruction by birds. While the siding is removed, we will upgrade the exterior lighting and add exterior electrical outlets. Both will improve the security of our parking lot that has experienced some recent vandalism. They will also make it easier for us to host more outdoor events. This project will be completed by May 31, 2022.

Crown Hill Village Association

The Crown Hill Neighborhood Village would like to activate the stretch of 90th between 14th and Mary Ave located at 9250 14th Avenue NW. To test its potential as a 'heart' for the neighborhood, that pulls it away from the fast-moving traffic of the 15th Ave and Holman Rd. There will be a series of community events in the Summer of 2019 to test if the block has the potential to become pedestrian-friendly. All events are free and open to the public.

HONK! Festival West

HONK Festival West will produce a free festival, HONK! Fest West over three days in three Seattle neighborhoods: Georgetown on June 2nd located at 5919 Airport Way South, Columbia City on June 3rd located at 4721 Rainier Avenue South and Yesler Terrace on June 4th located at 903 Yesler Way. HONK! Fest West is an accessible community music festival driven by the energetic performances of street bands in public spaces. The festival will feature 25+ bands each day. This immersive festival is 100% volunteer-run, performed, and organized. This project will be completed by 9/30/23.

HONK Festival West

HONK! Festival West produces the joy-filled annual HONK! Fest West—a free, three-day celebration of street band music and community in three distinct Seattle neighborhoods. From May 29-31, 2026, we’ll partner with Georgetown, Columbia City, Pratt Park and/or the Seattle Waterfront, where 25–35 high-energy street bands will perform each day in public spaces, inviting everyone to join in the fun—neighbors, families, and passersby. Entirely volunteer-run and free to all, this immersive festival removes barriers to live music, connects people across cultures, and celebrates the power of collective creativity. From samba to Balkan brass, New Orleans second line to funk, HONK! Fest West showcases diverse traditions while erasing the line between performer and audience—turning the whole community into the band. This poroject will be completed by October 31, 2026.

HONK!Fest West

HONK! Fest West is an accessible community music festival driven by the energetic performances of street bands in public spaces. This free and immersive festival occurs annually in June, and is 100% volunteer-run, performed, and organized. HONK! is part of a global renaissance of street band culture occurring in Seattle since 2008.

Black Child Development Institute

To honor Black Childcare providers and offer them resources that support their own care and their status as essential care givers, educators and business owners. This event is free and will include self-care advocates, nutrition support, dialogue with mental health professionals, business and finance consultants, and local funders. The event will be held from 10am until 3pm on October 22, 2022 at Rainier Beach Community Center.

Gifts Of Hope

Our Hope for Christmas Community Event, set to take place on December 15th, 2024, at the Smilow Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club, is a collaborative endeavor aimed at celebrating African American culture and fostering unity among individuals of diverse backgrounds. This inclusive and free event welcomes all members of the public, providing a platform for the South Seattle community to come together, plan, and execute a meaningful gathering that promotes inclusivity and neighborly connections. By engaging 500+ residents of different nationalities and faiths, the event seeks to create a sense of togetherness and shared celebration during the holiday season. Through proactive outreach efforts, we will ensure broad community involvement and participation in this enriching and unifying Hope for Christmas Community Event.

GROW

This Eagle scout candidate project will bring a beautiful, decorative bulletin board to the Horiuchi P-Patch, to help increase communication between the gardeners at Horiuchi P-Patch and between the Horiuchi P-Patch gardeners and the community. This project will also improve the gravel walkway in the P-Patch. It is a partnership between a youth volunteer and a very diverse, mainly elderly group of gardeners in the Yesler neighborhood of Seattle.

Howell Collective Garden

The Howell Collective Garden community group wants to construct a fence around the Howell Collective P-Patch which is located at 1514 E Howell St. The fence will provide clearly define boundaries for gardeners. The fence will also define the intentionality of the garden to the community and reduce the littering in the P-Patch. The project is open to community participation. The project will be completed in Spring 2023.

Emergency Communication Hubs - Seattle

Emergency Communication Hubs are popping up throughout Seattle as citizens everywhere step up to help their communities prepare for a large disaster. Each Hub has a dedicated team of individuals reaching out to the community to engage and involve neighbors. To support their efforts, we want to pass along tools we have developed (forms, job descriptions, educational materials, etc.) so they don't have to reinvent the wheel. We will host a Hub 101 class at 7:00p.m. on October 24, 2019 at the Cascade Bicycle Club in Magnuson Park, 7787 62nd Avenue NE. This project will be completed by January 31, 2020.

InterIm CDA

ICDA and community are creating public art, interpretive installations, a new community gathering place, neighborhood walking tours, and more to honor beloved and legendary community leader, Bob Santos at Uncle Bob's Place, Interim's newest low income housing project. Uncle Bob's Place is prominently located in the CID and many elements of the public art and installations will be on the outside of the building for all who visit the CID. This effort will enhance the sense of place, culture, history, purpose, and community in the CID and contribute to keeping the neighborhood strong and intact, even in the face of intense displacement and gentrification pressures.

CID Block Party

Background: The purpose of this project is to create an installation that pays tribute to the small businesses and homes that were lost during the construction of the I-5 highway. By highlighting these stories, we aim to raise awareness and educate people about the impact of infrastructure development on local communities and emphasize the ongoing significance of history in shaping our present and future. We aim to create an impactful installation that not only commemorates the lost homes but also fosters a deeper understanding of the historical, social, and cultural implications of infrastructure development. Objectives: Preserve and honor the memory of the homes and communities that were affected by the construction of I-5. Educate the public about the historical context and consequences of infrastructure development. Foster a sense of connection between past, present, and future generations, emphasizing the enduring relevance of history.

I-M PasifikAZN Committee

The I-M PasifikAZN committee (IMPAC) will coordinate and host 5 fun and informative public events in November to honor Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (APIA), especially the Chinese Congressional Medal recipients on Veteran's Day during the year of 140th anniversary of Washington state. These public events will be held at different venues in Seattle, and will help to increase public awareness and participation in APIA communities. The first public event will be held at Klondike Museum - 319 2nd Ave S. Seattle, WA 98104.

Africatown-Central District Preservation & Development Association

The Imagine Africatown Fall and Winter Activation project will create a temporary art based neighborhood destination at Midtown located at 2301 East Union Street. The project will celebrate the African American/African Diaspora legacy and culture in the Central District with art, pop up events, and other programming. This project will be completed by March 28, 2019.

Imminent Mode

Vermillion is organizing a one-day art show event called: IMMINENT MODE: FAST FORWARD. The event will take place on August 8, 2019, it will be located at 1508 11th Ave. It will take place during the Capitol Hill Artwalk. The event will bring local artists together and is free and open to all.

Meadowbrook Community Gardens and Orchards

Meadowbrook Community Gardens and Orchards, (MCGO), will improve our irrigation system, (currently irrigation is all done by hand by volunteers), replace old and worn tools, repair raised beds and add a few more, and buy bulk soil amendments and compost to improve soil quality. All of the ese improvements will allow us to better achieve our purpose of producing more food to meet the growing needs of our community.
