FESTIVAL AND SYMPOSIUM FOR AMERICA'S 250TH [THE PROJECT BEGINS WITH A FESTIVAL OF WEEKLY SPEAKER EVENTS FOR STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO CELEBRATE THE NATION?S FOUNDING, DEEPENING THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF THE REVOLUTION, FOCUS ON ITS VALUES, MEANINGS, AND LEGACIES, AND REFLECT ON ITS CALL TO CIVIC ENGAGEMENT. THE SPEAKERS ARE SERIOUS SCHOLARS WHO WILL ATTRACT AUDIENCES BY FRAMING THEIR PRESENTATIONS AROUND "HOOKS" SUCH AS ESPIONAGE, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, ART, AND THE MODERN RELEVANCE OF THE FOUNDERS. SEVERAL HUMANITIES DEPARTMENTS ARE INVOLVED. THE EVENTS OCCUR NEAR AN EXHIBITION OF ORIGINAL AMERICAN REVOLUTION DOCUMENTS FROM THE UNIVERSITY?S WEINER COLLECTION WITH COMPLEMENTS FROM THE AMERICAN BATTLEFIELD TRUST. AFTER THIS PERIOD OF INTENSE REFLECTION, OUR FACULTY AND STUDENT RESEARCHERS WILL PRODUCE ORIGINAL SCHOLARSHIP AND CREATIVE WORKS ON THE REVOLUTION?S THEMES. THEY WILL RECONVENE FOR A TWO-DAY PUBLIC SYMPOSIUM UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF A KEYNOTE SPEAKER, WITH THE WEINER COLLECTION AGAIN AT THE CENTER.]
