CELEBRATION OF LIBERTY! [IN 2026, TO COMMEMORATE AMERICA?S 250TH BIRTHDAY, THE DIXON PARK DISTRICT AND CITY OF DIXON WILL USE THE PETUNIA FESTIVAL AS AN ANCHOR FOR A MUCH LARGER CELEBRATION. THE FESTIVAL WILL CARRY THE THEME ?HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!? WHICH WILL BE REFLECTED IN EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE WEEK. THE WEEK-LONG CELEBRATION WILL KICK OFF ON SATURDAY, JUNE 27TH, 2026, WITH A RED, WHITE, AND BLUE BALL AT THE HISTORIC LOVELAND COMMUNITY HOUSE AND MUSEUM. BUILT IN 1940, THE LOVELAND HOUSE FEATURES COMMUNITY GATHERING SPACES AND A MUSEUM SHOWCASING LOCAL HISTORY, INCLUDING DIXON?S TIES TO THE CIVIL WAR, ABRAHAM LINCOLN, AND RONALD REAGAN. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, THE RED, WHITE, AND BLUE BALL WILL FEATURE A LIVE SWING BAND AND PAY TRIBUTE TO LOCAL VETERANS. THIS FESTIVE EVENING IS DESIGNED TO SET A PATRIOTIC TONE FOR THE WEEK AHEAD. CHRIS BISHOP WILL SERVE AS PROJECT DIRECTOR FOR THIS INITIATIVE WHOSE BUDGET IS A TOTAL OF $44,000.01 WITH $22,000 BEING REQUESTED FROM THIS HUMANITIES GRANT.]
