Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle

Provide a 6-week Summer University program serving 60 at-risk African American middle and high school students. Provide academic enrichment and skill-building through a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) curriculum on a college campus.

Year of Pride Organizing Committee

The Rainier Vista Year of Pride Organizing Committee and the Rainer Vista Vietnamese Seniors Group will host a Vietnamese New Year/Tet celebration on Saturday, February 4, 2017, from noon to 4:00pm. There will be food, music, and traditional decor. The event will be held in the Rainier Vista Snoqualmie Community Room (2917 South Snoqualmie Street), and will be free and open to the public.

Hirabayashi Place Legacy of Justice Committee

Complete and install community-led project located on and around Hirabayashi Place to provide historical and cultural identity of Nihonmachi, Seattle’s historic Japantown, by honoring civil rights leader Gordon Hirabayashi. Project will create a place for education, inspiration, remembrance, and hope.

Friends of Jackson Street Mural Project

Commission painting and installation of a mural depicting significant historical labor events in the rich, multicultural context of the International and Central Districts. The community-designed art will be installed on the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO office building.

Na'ah Illahee Fund

Develop and teach two new pilot classes to Native American youth that combine technology with Native American culture. Train students to build a dance arcade games and tell stories through computer games using MIT's Scratch.

University Heights Center

University Heights Center located at 5031 University Way NE will install new elevators in their location to make the historic three-story center accessible for all visitors. The funds will be used for permits, surveying, hazardous consultants, and architectural design. The phase I of the project is expected to be completed by the end of January of 2020.

Lao Community Services Office

Help Lao youth improve their computer skills, academic achievement, and/or knowledge about their native culture through Internet research and computer training. Help Lao adults increase their computer skills so they are more self-sufficient.

Washington Lawyers for the Arts

This is an interdisciplinary symposium on legal and business issues encountered by artists producing musical, literary and mixed media creation including film, video, television, broadband, internet and digital technology in general.

WAPI Community Services

API Youth Voices. Young Asian and Pacific Islanders will learn media literacy skills and how to use audio and video technology to engage their peers in conversations about social justice and community development issues, such as gang culture and the immigrant and refugee experience.

Seattle Flying Dragon Boat Club

The Seattle Dragon Boat Club will be hosting, the Seattle Dragon Boat Festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 8, 2024 as a celebration of Asian culture! This will coincide with the traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Duanwu Festival, held annually on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, which commemorates the ancient poet Qu Yuan and typically includes dragon boat races, food, and folk entertainment. The dragon boat races will occur at the southern end of Lake Union, located at 860 Terry Ave N. with cultural performances, food trucks, vendors, and music planned in Lake Union Park. The event is free and open to the public.

Chinatown-International District Small Business Heritage Group

A curated recipe cookbook, visual history, and profile of today's Seattle Chinatown-ID and Little Saigon restaurants and its founders. This hybrid cookbook and series of small business profiles feature the neighborhood's famed dishes and the stories behind the restaurant owners' beginnings, grit, and evolution. A curation of 20-25 local, BIPOC-owned restaurants will feature in a 65-75-page book. It's a celebratory yet intimate portrait of the neighborhood's restaurants and owners, delivered in an accessible, visually compelling way and intended for a broad audience.

Brothers United In Leadership Development

BUILD 2024 is a series of community-building events to create leadership opportunities for the Black community, focusing on Black males that impact, heal, unite, inspire, celebrate, and engage them to BUILD community. Our planned events include BUILD Black Creative Collaborations, BUILD Mother's Day Celebration, BUILD Father's Day Celebration, BUILD Block Party, Open Mic Nights, BUILD Back to School Community Bash, and our BUILD 11-Year Community Celebration.

InterIm CDA

ICDA and community are creating public art, interpretive installations, a new community gathering place, neighborhood walking tours, and more to honor beloved and legendary community leader, Bob Santos at Uncle Bob's Place, Interim's newest low income housing project. Uncle Bob's Place is prominently located in the CID and many elements of the public art and installations will be on the outside of the building for all who visit the CID. This effort will enhance the sense of place, culture, history, purpose, and community in the CID and contribute to keeping the neighborhood strong and intact, even in the face of intense displacement and gentrification pressures.

Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association

Youngstown Cultural Arts Center. Youth will learn how to operate a recording studio and to manipulate digital media through classes and open lab time in the new Youngstown arts-oriented media lab.

Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce

With enormous & rapid change in Capitol Hill it is important that the neighborhood has the strongest possible leadership organization: sustainable, healthy & strong. We are proposing to work with community members & consultants to evolve the Chamber & a proposed Capitol Hill Business Improvement Area (BIA) to directly serve the Capitol Hill businesses, residents, nonprofits, & arts organizations in this very dense, challenging & rapidly growing neighborhood.

Deaf Spotlight

Deaf Spotlight will offer a 3-week summer theater camp August 6-27, 2016 for 15- 20 middle and high school youth. They will learn all aspects of a theatrical production guided by two artists in residence. The goal is to engage youth who are hard of hearing or are signing hearing children of deaf adults. The project will culminate in a free performance of a play which the students will write and produce.

Turkish American Cultural Association of Washington

The International Children's Friendship Festival (ICFF-https://childrensfest.tacawa.org/) fosters cultural understanding and empowers Seattle youth. Inspired by International Children's Day, ICFF celebrates diverse young voices through a vibrant 2-day festival and year-round arts programs. Youth collaborate in art, public speaking, and civic advocacy, attracting thousands and gaining recognition from the City of Seattle. Celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2024, ICFF builds a more inclusive future through youth arts.

Seattle Repertory Theatre

On August 25-27, 2023, Seattle Rep's Public Works department will produce a live stage production of Lear deBessonet and Todd Almond's musical adaptation of Shakespeare's THE TEMPEST in collaboration with a group of ten community partners.

Hip Hop is Green

Hip Hop is Green will host the first annual, free-of-cost, Cherry Street Block Party: a one-day community celebration on September 6, 2025 on East Cherry Street between 24th and 26th Avenues. The purpose of the Cherry Street Block Party is to build community and social cohesion for local organizations, artists, chefs, and small businesses who focus on uplifting and empowering Black and Brown families in Seattle’s Central District. The CD is Seattle’s historically Black neighborhood and has faced ongoing waves of gentrification. Luckily, there is a growing community movement to reclaim the CD as a hub for Black culture and resilience. Hip Hop is Green will produce the event, working collaboratively with a roster of 16+ partner organizations. Programming will include food demos and samples, wellness workshops, booths with information about community programs, and live performances. This project will be completed by October 31, 2025.

Rainier Beach Merchants Association

The Rainier Beach Music and Arts Fest, (BAAMFest), will celebrate our beautiful, vibrant community and highlight the Rainier Beach business district. BAAMFest is a cultural celebration with music, dance, spoken word, visual arts, food, art vendors, contests and more. These events activate hot spots in the community with powerful expressions of art and engaging activities for the whole family. BAAMFest is on July 22, 2017 on the Rainier Beach Community Center Plaza 8825 Rainier Avenue South.

Discover Music in the Park

Friends of Discover Music in the Park will organize a free outdoor classical music and dance concert in Discovery Park. The event will be held on Sunday, August 20, from 1:00 to 3:00pm, at the upper field next to Daybreak Star Cultural Center, and is planned for around 500 attendees. Outreach will be done to the general public with focus on the Magnolia and Queen Anne neighborhoods, families, students, Tent City 5, Discovery Park visitors, community groups, and arts organizations that are interested in expanding music and arts performances in Seattle's parks.

Neighborhood Night Out

The Neighborhood Night Out Planning Committee will host a Night Out Against Crime block party on 1st Ave W between W Smith St and W McGraw St on August 2, 2016 from 6 pm to 9 pm. The event will unite neighbors to enjoy food, games, and live music together. The event will be free and open to the public.
