NIAID - National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
Rapid Diagnostic Assays for Self-Monitoring of Acute or Rebound HIV-Infection: This program aims to support early-stage diagnostic technologies as platforms for developing simple, low-cost, rapid diagnostic assays to enable individuals to directly detect HIV-1 during the earliest stages of initial infection or to monitor viral suppression in chronic treated infection times when antibody responses are not an accurate surrogate for viral load. This contract aims to develop a low-cost and simple extraction step using only finger-picked whole blood, followed by colorimetric isothermal amplification and detection of the viral RNA.
