About This Grant

PROJECT SUMMARY Cancer Immunology: Across Space & Time is an international scientific conference that will convene leaders and early-career investigators in cancer immunology, tumor biology, systems immunology, and computational biology to address how tumor–immune interactions evolve over space and time. Despite transformative successes of immune checkpoint inhibitors and related therapies, many patients still fail to respond or develop resistance. A critical unmet need is to understand how dynamic networks of immune, stromal, and tumor cells across anatomic sites (primary tumor, metastases, peripheral lymphoid organs) collectively shape anti-tumor immunity and therapeutic outcomes. The meeting will be held July 10–13, 2026, in Lisbon, Portugal, and is organized by Drs. Amanda W. Lund (NYU Grossman School of Medicine), Greg Delgoffe (University of Pittsburgh), and Nikhil Joshi (Yale University). The program is organized into six thematic sessions: Mapping Tumor: Immune Evolution; The Influence of Micro- and Macro-environments; Intratumoral Heterogeneity and Immunotherapy; Modeling Immune Responses in Cancer; Linking Local and Systemic Immunity; and Deconstructing Immune Dynamics in Tissues, with invited speakers from leading institutions worldwide and multiple short talks selected from submitted abstracts. Support is requested from NCI under PA-25-080 to offset registration costs for key, US-based invited speakers and to provide young investigator awards that incentivize trainees and early-career faculty to attend and present their work. NYU Grossman School of Medicine will serve as the U.S. applicant institution, and Fusion Conferences will provide logistical support as a commercial meeting organizer. The conference will emphasize inclusivity, a safe and harassment-free environment, and attention to family-care needs. By integrating mechanistic immunology, vascular and stromal biology, spatial and temporal omics, and computational modeling, this meeting will catalyze new collaborations and conceptual advances that directly support NIH’s mission to improve cancer outcomes through more effective immunotherapy.
