The study also involves analyzing brain specimens from FDD and FBD patients using single-nuclei RNA sequencing and spatial gene expression analysis. The research aims to develop interventions targeting the interaction of BRI2 with two key proteins associated with AD, namely APP and TREM2. These interventions aim to correct BRI2 dysfunctions that contribute to dementia. Specifically, the efficacy of BRI2-derived peptides in modulating APP and TREM2 processing will be evaluated. Overall, this study seeks to provide insights into the multifaceted role of BRI2 and its potential as a therapeutic target for AD and ADRD.
