About This Grant

The National Rivers Project, River Access Framework, and Access Standards tasks will increase public access to river recreation by improving the availability of information about river recreation opportunities and developing new techniques for safe, sustainable public access. Through information dissemination and training tasks, river managers will learn to use the new tools to shift the balance towards providing greater public access to public lands and waters. Such tools and techniques will utilize science to identify best practices to manage land and water resources and adapt to changes in the environment. The Partnership Wild and Scenic Rivers Toolkit tasks will assist communities with their own local efforts to conserve river resources and provide public access opportunities. This will expand the lines of communication with local communities, state natural resource offices, and Governors, as well as foster relationships with conservation organizations advocating for balanced stewardship and use of public lands.
