About This Grant
Roots & Rhythm: West African Story Circle is a community storytelling event that honors the rich oral traditions of West African cultures while creating space for connection, celebration, and healing. Organized by the West African Relief Center, the event will bring together elders, youth, and neighbors for an evening filled with folktales, drumming, dancing, and shared food. The event is more than entertainment, it’s a way to preserve culture, uplift immigrant and refugee voices, and build deeper bonds across generations and backgrounds. It’s a reminder that everyone belongs, and that our stories matter. The event will be held at the Rainier Beach Community Center located at 8825 Rainer Ave S Seattle WA on September 20, 2025, from 2 to 6PM and is free and open to the public.
