Georgetown Mural Program

The Georgetown Mural Program is an arts-based employment opportunity for up to 10 teens experiencing economic barriers and systemic inequality in the Georgetown neighborhood. This program is a partnership between Urban ArtWorks (UA)s and Mini Mart City Park (MMCP), a new community arts center in Georgetown. Mentored by a UA professional teaching artist, teens will be paid a stipend to design and install a mural at MMCP. The project will culminate in a publicly accessible mural unveiling and solo art exhibit at the new MMCP gallery. The anticipate project completion date is September 30, 2021.

Community-led Mural with Youth Artists

This project will create a new community mural under the Holman overpass at the 9500 Block of 8th Ave NW. The mural will be created through a collaborative design and painting process that will include Urban ArtWorks youth, Base Crew artists, professional teaching artists, and residents of the Crown Hill neighborhood and surrounding community. The project will include cleaning and preparing the wall, designing a mural through community input, and painting the large-scale design on the wall on several volunteer Community Paint Days in early summer 2026. The anticipated project complete date is 9/30/2026.
