Tasveer Presents: Introduction to Hip Hop

Tasveer will organize a Hip Hop workshop for South Asian young adults that will help them learn the history and art of Hip Hop, a form of expression. The workshop will teach the origins of Hip Hop culture in the Black community and how it has come to be one of the most important and defining elements of American pop culture. It will also help participants understand how Hip Hop connects to certain South Asian artistic styles, culture, and performance both currently and historically. The workshop will be presented online and be completed by September 30, 2020.

Desi Girls Comedy Project

Desi Girls Comedy Project will be a four-week virtual workshop series with one session per week + one-on-one mentoring to nurture participants' confidence and skills, culminating in a live comedy showcase presented within COVID-19 health guidelines. Virtual workshops and events, spearheaded by the queer South Asian comedy troupe Kutti Gang and including local guest artists from Seattle, will focus first on serving South Asian women in Seattle and will be available for free online. This project will be completed by December of 2021

The open mic event will have curated segments and non-curated segments which will give the mic to established artists, while encouraging and inspiring new artists to step up to participate. The event will be at the Broadway Performance Hall,1625 Broadway Avenue, on September 24, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. This project will be completed by December 30, 2022.
