Vocational rehabilitation is a process that prepares people for employment by helping them choose a vocational role and function that is consistent with their abilities, achievements, interests, and functioning capacity. The specific goals of a vocational rehabilitation program vary with the needs of the target population. The process includes the following services: vocational testing, assessment, counseling, pre-vocational activities, training, educational services, life skills/employability referrals, job referrals and placement, and post-placement counseling and follow-up. Programs provide these vocational rehabilitation services directly or by referring the client to an appropriate resource.

The goal of this project is to create a workforce pipeline of multi-disciplinary professionals who have interdisciplinary training and SUD education and work experience in one or all the following: prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction settings.

The goals of the project are to increase the number of CRPAs and CRPA-Ps; increase the number of bilingual CRPAs; assist with any barriers to obtaining the CRPA/CRPA-P; connect individuals who have obtained the CRPA/CRPA-P to a job and help them to remain in the job; increase the number of individuals obtaining the Veterans Supported Recovery (VSR) designation as a CRPA to assist with the many veterans who are struggling with substance use disorder; and assist in transitioning CRPA-Ps to the full CRPA and obtaining renewals.
