As part of NYPA's funding of its workforce training incentives is the renewable energy field, NYPA is supporting Soulful Synergy?s program to deliver specialized training to equip participants with advanced weatherization techniques, and with skills in building and transportation electrification with a focus on New Rochelle and Mount Vernon.

The Northern New York Power Proceeds program is made possible through net earnings resulting from the sale of unused economic development hydropower generated at NYPA's St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project. The Northern New York Power Proceeds Act, passed in December 2014, allows NYPA to deposit the net earnings from the market sale of unallocated St. Lawrence County Economic Development Power into a fund, which can then be used to support economic development projects in the County. Eligible projects are considered under five funding tracks, including Training & Workforce Development: Training and related programs that will provide the necessary skills to meet industry needs. Ideally, projects should focus on concentrations of underemployed and underrepresented populations in the Region and provide programs for those populations.

The Western New York Power Proceeds program is made possible through net earnings resulting from the sale of unused economic development hydropower generated at NYPA's Niagara Power Project. The Western New York Power Proceeds Act, passed in December 2012, allows NYPA to deposit the net earnings from the market sale of unallocated Expansion and Replacement Economic Development Power into a fund, which can then be used to support economic development projects within a 30 mile radius of the NiagaraPoer Project. Eligible projects are considered under six funding tracks, including Workforce Development: Identifying high concentrations of underemployed and underrepresented populations in a Region and creating programs that will train those populations to match the needs of Industry in the Region.

As part of NYPA's funding of its workforce training incentives is the renewable energy field, NYPA is supporting United Way of Long Island?s Green Construction Energy Efficiency Technician Training Program. The Green Construction Energy Efficiency Technician Training Course will prepare participants to perform comprehensive, whole-home assessments to identify problems and prescribe prioritized solutions based on building science.

As part of NYPA's funding of its workforce training incentives is the renewable energy field, NYPA is supporting Oneida County Office of Workforce Development?s program to connect residents of disadvantaged populations with training programs in the construction, remediation, manufacturing, and operations with a focus on occupations that support renewable energy generation and storage.

The funding will support and allow LiUNA to grow their pre apprenticeship programs. This series of courses prepares members of disadvantaged communities for careers as union construction craft laborers.

As part of NYPA's funding of its workforce training incentives is the renewable energy field, NYPA is supporting ESAMTAC in the planning, production, beta testing and launch of the VR Lab Workforce Training program.

As part of NYPA's funding of it's workforce training incenctives in the renewable enerty field, NYPA is supporting ITEC's program to offer a two-week course to its students at the conclusion of the Construction Class. Students will receive the EPA 608 Certification to enable them to work with refrigerants. The new class will include heat pump installation as well as theory of heating and cooling.

Participants will be trained in composite manufacturing, drone technologies, and offshore wind. Participants will also receive career readiness and professional development training. .

NYPA is funding workforce training initiatives in the renewable energy field in cooperation with NYS Department of Labor, including supporting RTI's apprentice/vocational programs. This funding focuses on the apprentice/vocational program involving the building and trade industry, specifically plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and solar panel installation.

As part of NYPA's funding of its workforce training initiatives in the renewable energy field, NYPA is providing a pilot program opportunity with Say Yes Buffalo, Inc. to fund the SYB Youth Apprenticeship Program to serve high demand sectors in the amount of $600,000, which will partially fund a program known as the ?Say Yes Buffalo/CareerWise Greater Buffalo Modern Youth Apprenticeship Program." This program will combine paid on-the-job learning, professional mentorship, aligned educational training and credentialing, and wraparound case supports designed to ensure historically underserved youth have equitable access to and retention in secure, mid-wage, mid-skill jobs with room to grow.

As part of NYPA's funding of its workforce training incentives is the renewable energy field, NYPA is supporting St. Nick?s Alliance in a program to support a 7-week, 200-hour credentialed, employer linked, HVAC training program combining classroom and hands-on training in high-efficiency HVAC including heat pumps. Technical training includes green construction skills, green building maintenance and operations.

As part of NYPA's funding of its workforce training incentives is the renewable energy field, NYPA is supporting the NYS Labor Management Committee. The funds will support an expansion of clean energy training currently offered at the Joint Apprenticeship Training Centers across the state.

The funds will support a pilot program aimed to equip Bronx-based college students with the exposure and training necessary to take advantage of opportunities in the clean energy industry.

The course is designed as a two-course progression?an introductory (30-hour) HVAC Systems 101- level course, followed by a more advanced (30-hour) Heat Pump Systems 201-level course.

The program will provide classroom and hands-on experience in the following areas: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, building operations and maintenance, energy efficiency, solar PV, HVAC, and building decarbonization.

The New York Power Authority (NYPA), in collaboration with Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC), has been awarded a $105,000 grant from Electrify America for the "Charging Forward: New York State ZEV Train-the-Trainer Program for." This 2025-2026 initiative aims to: ? Cultivate a highly skilled workforce in zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) technology across New York State by training 120 automotive technician instructors from high schools and community colleges over the next two years. ? Standardize EV education, provide necessary equipment and upgrades, and increase ZEV awareness and education. ? Support New York State in meeting its climate goals by facilitating the transition to electric vehicles and preparing the next generation of auto-tech workers.

As part of NYPA's funding of its workforce training initiatives in the renewable energy field, NYPA is supporting the NYC District Council of Carpenters Training Center This funding focuses on training of incumbent workers focusing on contruction skills needed for clean energy work. Over the two-year program, apprentices will receive advanced apprenticeship training including the specific skills necessary for work on energy efficiency and clean technology projects and building performance.

The New York Power Authority's (NYPA), Future Energy Leaders scholarship program provides support to high-achieving students of color interested in four-year degrees that will prepare them for careers in the energy industry. In total, NYPA has awarded college scholarships to students statewide since the program began in 2021.
