On June 16 Homesight along with the Safeway Foundation and Wells Fargo Foundation will host Othello-Bration at 7301 Martin Luther King Jr. Way S from Noon to 4pm. The event will celebrate the kick-off of two community projects, Beet Box and the Safeway Othello Mural. The goal of the kick-off event is to promote community participation and community building. There will be many family friendly events such as face-painting, balloon animals, kite making, and musical acts for all to enjoy. All activities are free and open to the public.

Beet Box at Othello Summer Celebration will be on Saturday June 8, 2019 from 10am to 2pm at 6901 MLK Jr. Way S. The Beet Box is a pop-up space for community gathering in the Othello neighborhood providing free urban gardening and health and wellness education and resources. Homesight will host an open house to kick off summer which will be free to all with musical entertainment, crafts, and food. There will also be some horticultural exercises and nutrition education. This project will be completed by July 31, 2019.

HomeSight

The Othello International Festival is a celebration of and for the members of the Othello community. This project will increase the involvement of people from diverse backgrounds in the Othello community. Activities will include an art creation station, face painting, ethnic dance performances, a petting zoo, carnival activities, live music, vendors, information booths, and food vendors/trucks. The purpose of this event is to continue to develop a neighborhood identity where people get to know one another and feel part of the community as a whole despite coming from all different backgrounds and cultures. In this way, they will feel motivated to share in other neighborhood improvements and endeavors such as neighborhood planning, clean-ups, promotions of the business district development, beautification projects, etc. We want community members and organizations to come together to ensure the place we call home is thriving.
