Freeway Park Association

Freeway Park Association seeks funding to support three complementary projects happening in Freeway Park Dec 24-June 25. We will illuminate pathways with heritage tree lighting; illuminate art and create connections with a community festival; and illuminate history with shared stories and educational signage. The projects include 1. Foundational winter lighting for public delight and much needed safety, and to create a backdrop for our March art activation; 2. An illuminated art event in March entitled `Meeting at the Balance` supporting 6-9 artists/artist teams' art installations, performances, and art making workshops; 3. Creating public education materials about the social and political history of the park and the details of the Park's renovation which is slated for May 25. Meeting at the Balance will energize and illuminate the park, empower and fund local artists and also educate the community about the future and past of Freeway Park at this moment of expansion and change.

Freeway Park Association

This November, Freeway Park Association will participate in an illuminated arts celebration in Freeway Park located at 700 Seneca Street. This celebration is also happening across several other downtown parks. Freeway Park will use the theme of wayfinding - using art to illuminate spaces and pathways where we come together. We have identified 3-5 park locations for large-scale, illuminated installations to welcome visitors into the park and draw them through this unique downtown public space. We are issuing a call to artists for illuminated pieces that will stand for 2-4 months. This project will be completed by April 30, 2022.

Freeway Park Association

The Freeway Park Association will be hosting a four season art installation that will be held at Freeway Park located at 700 Seneca Street. The Four installations are: Winter 2022 light-art installation starting in December 2022, Spring Freeway Park Bloom starting in June 2023, Summer Fountain Fest starting in July 2023 and culminate with Fall Fest starting September 2023. The event is free and open to the public.

Freeway Park Association

The Freeway Park Association will organize a community lantern installation and Fall Festival event on Friday, October 26, 4-7pm, at Freeway Park, 700 Seneca St. Communities neighboring the park will be invited to help make lanterns and participate in the festival. The lanterns will hang throughout the fall and winter as a way to bring light, movement, color and community art into the park, making people feel safe and invested in Freeway Park.

Freeway Park Association

The Freeway Park Association (FPA) will hire a landscape architect and engage the community in a conversation about how connectivity, visibility and public safety at Freeway Park can be improved. Three community meetings will be held for downtown and First Hill residents and other park stakeholders that will result in conceptual design recommendations for future use by the City and FPA.
